Types of Domestic Violence
There are several types of domestic violence, each harmful in different ways:
- Physical Abuse: Involves physical harm, such as hitting, slapping, or choking.
- Emotional/Psychological Abuse: Includes manipulation, isolation, verbal insults, and controlling behavior, damaging the victim’s self-worth.
- Verbal Abuse: Demeaning the victim through yelling, name-calling, and threats.
- Sexual Abuse: Forcing unwanted sexual acts or engaging in sexual violence.
- Financial Abuse: Controlling or restricting the victim’s access to financial resources.
- Digital Abuse: Using technology to harass, monitor, or control the victim.
- Stalking: Repeatedly following or harassing someone, causing fear.
- Cultural/Identity Abuse: Manipulating the victim using aspects of their culture, race, or identity.
Each type of abuse is aimed at gaining control and power over the victim, often through fear or manipulation.
